There are so many scrapbook paper packets in my house. Sometimes I’m not doing anything with paper for months and then suddenly I find a super cute project, like these Paper Succulents. (The Paper Stars I made almost exactly 2 years ago and that was my last paper project). Welcome to Project #2 of Weekly DIY Projects!
I’m slowly cleaning things up in the house. Kids are on Zoom conferences with their classes during this COVID-19 pandemic time. I have some time! So what to do?
Throwing things away or sending things to a thrift store. Sometimes I had to think if I had another purpose for an item, like this thing:
Who needs CD’s anyway these days. But the box is nice. What can I make out of it?
I just painted the bathroom and there was a bit paint left. I love this color. So fresh and springy! Okay, this looks a lot better.
Now what? Let me ask a friend who is a succulent expert. Succulents are coming out of winter and look a little weird, she said. No problem, I’ll check on Pinterest to find ideas for felt or paper succulents. Oooooh, I like these Paper Succulents. Here are some free printables and here is a video.
After I cut the petals out, I used oil pastels to make the colors more realistic. Then I pinched the tips of the petals and hot glued them together.
I stuffed the box with a paper bag. Then I hot glued a skewer on the bottom of the succulent and arranged the different succulents in the box. To finish it off, I used glass pebbles on top of the paper bag, in case you can see it and give it more weight.
I love how it turned out! Now I want to see yours! Post on Facebook or in the comments below!
