Sometimes I wish I had more time for myself…..really! Am I the only mom out there?…I could make crafts all day long, especially all these different kinds of paper stars.

But just today, for example, I talked to a friend who wished the same thing a few years ago…”I wish, I was not so busy and I would have more time for myself”.

Be careful for what you wish for. She has 2 sons, who were young at that time and then her wish came true. The family of 4 went for a few months to India. They had an Indian lady who did everything for them: cooking, cleaning, taking care of the kids. The mom was sitting there…. in a chair….doing nothing….She couldn’t speak the language, no parks around, none of her friends there. SHE WAS BORED!

Now she says: “Better to be busy, than being bored!”

I know it is totally the opposite, but a little more time….on a regular basis, would be appreciated;0)

So here are my super cute paper star crafts for today.

Wishing upon some beautiful stars!

Five Point Star

I made these stars a few years ago. I added Mod Podge to the finished star and an eyelet to hang the stars up. You can also put Christmas lights in the stars. Be careful, tough. These lights can get hot. Try LED-lights instead. You can punch holes in them, so the light comes through or cut out a fun pattern.

This could be a beautiful decoration. Make these in different sizes and colors for baby or children’s rooms…..

How to make this Five Point Star

The things you’ll need:

– card stock ( scrapbook paper or your own paper with watercolor drawing for example)

– ruler

– pencil

– scissors

– glue

– cutting mat

– x-acto knife

– Mod Podge optional

– eyelet

– hammer

– string

Download the template here at Abbi Kirsten Collections. You can resize it, depending on how big you want to have the star. For 1 star you’ll need 5 points. I printed the template once on cardstock.

Cut the template out. You can cut out small shapes with an x-acto knife on the cutting mat, if you choose to put lights in the star.

Trace the template onto your card stock of choice. Do this 5 times.

Cut the 5 points out and fold the lines. You can copy the lines from the template with your ruler and pencil and then fold.

Glue the points together, so they look like cones. Now you have 5 cones.

Glue the cones together. With the last cone, you can decide whether to glue them all together or just attach the last cone on one side to the star, so you’re still able to fold the star and store it if you don’t need it.

To make them more sturdy I “painted” the star with Mod Podge.

On one of the points you can insert an eyelet and pull a string through to hang the star up wherever you want.

Have Fun!!!

I always loved…and still love…origami. This star has a few steps. You’ll start with making a perfect pentagon shape and after that you’ll fold it into a star. It is very cool! I always think, how in the world people figure out this kind of stuff.
