Sorry for the delay for this blog post, but it has been busy with the end of the school year activities and a sudden change in our housing situation. More of that later! But now the end of our trip for Destination Imagination in Knoxville, Tennessee. Here you go!!!
Last Day at Global Finals 2018
We’re almost done here at Destination Imagination Global Finals 2018 in Knoxville Tennessee. One more fun day for all of these teams from all over the world. Today we’re chilling out a little and celebrating at the closing ceremony at the end of the day.
9:30 AM
The bus was ready for us to go to the Convention Center. The kids went their own way and explored the EXPO a little more. It was the last day to buy souvenirs, to get your favorite pins and try one more thing in the EXPO hall.
One or two more performances to see and one more lunch at noon. Back to the hotel to get dressed for the Closing Ceremony at the Arena. The bus driver took us there. We saw exhausted and relieved faces from kids and other team managers and chaperones. What a great experience this is to have in your life. To volunteer as a team manager and see these kids learn and create is amazing. To be part of this massive event in Knoxville, Tennessee is overwhelming but totally worth it!
Closing Ceremony at Destination Imagination
The Closing Ceremony was a little longer than the Opening Ceremony, because after a lot of ‘Thank You’s” and a video with impressions of the week, finally the numbers 10 through 4 of every category and level were projected on a big screen. The numbers 3, 2 and 1 were announced and were asked to come down to the stage for their medals and pictures. Of course it was very nerve wrecking, even though we knew we were not in the top 10.
The ceremony ended with fireworks and….that was it!
Next year there will be a new year for Destination Imagination and take over or at least dominate our lives a little for a few more months:0) But it is all worth it!
