Fall weather is approaching. We got wood for the winter and a fire pit for our deck. As we were sitting on the deck enjoying the crisp evenings with some warm tea, I looked at our plain, boring front door. Not really boring, because the door itself is painted in a bright teal color. Then this idea came to me of making one wreath for every season.

Materials to make seasonal wreaths.
I had some seasonal decorations left from other projects. Some of these things came in handy, but you can use whatever you have at home and from your garden.
I also have to mention that you could make 4 wreaths, store them carefully when the season is over, or you can use one embroidery hoop and change the decorations every season.
Here are the supplies I chose to use:
- embroidery hoops (10 inch)
- fake (fabric) flowers like peonies, white roses, tulips or sunflowers, and don’t forget some greenery.
- twine, ribbons and yarn
- metal flower wire
- rattan balls
- anything you can find in nature, like sticks, pine cones, grasses, pine needle branches
- paint and glue
Spring Wreath
For the spring wreath I made my own flowers out of coffee filters. I sprayed water on the coffee filters and mixed water colors to get the right shade for my flowers. After letting the filters dry, I folded them and cut scallops on the edges. To make a flower I put 4 coffee filters together and tight them together with a piece of wire.
First I put 2 pink and 2 blue ones together on the wreath, but that didn’t look good to me. You can play around with your composition and change how you think it’ll look good.
I left the hoop blank and put greenery and small twigs with white flowers on the hoop. Use metal wire for this. In between I put the flowers. Ribbon on top and you’re done!
Summer Wreath
For the Summer wreath, I chose to wrap yellow yarn around the hoop (very time consuming btw!). Then I added greenery and fake sunflowers, lavender and blue corn flowers to the wreath.
Fall Wreath
For this wreath I went into my garden and got sticks, grasses and pine cones. We haven’t been to the pumpkin patch yet, so I didn’t have mini pumpkins. Quick solution: I used small yarn balls and wrapped them in orange fabric. Then I tighten the pumpkin shape with orange yarn.
Around the embroidery hoop I used twine this time. It was a little faster than wrapping with thin yarn. I painted the tips of the pine cones ombre (white to light yellow, dark yellow, orang-y red).
First I arranged the sticks with leaves (from the fake sunflowers) on top of the hoop. The grasses came down below with the rattan balls and the pumpkins. On top I added the pine cones. I could exchange the pumpkins for real ones, but I think these are actually pretty cute.
Winter Wreath
If you have anything from Christmas table decorations, use small things in this wreath, like ornaments, red berries etc.
Pine cones, painted white and glitter are also fun to use. In the garden I cut some branches from pine trees and added them all around the embroidery hoop. Here and there you can add the pine cones, ornaments, ribbons and maybe some bells…
Here is a video how I made 4 wreaths for 4 seasons. Enjoy!
I hope your seasons will be more fun with these eye catching wreaths for your front door!
